Through our church, Jackie and I are involved in a camp for foster children.  I an effort to raise funds for this camp, our church holds an auction every year and the past two years we have offered a trip to the dunes.  This year Rodney and his family "won" our trip.  We had great hopes that this would go better than last year's trip did, since we managed to blow the engine last year!  Well, this year's trip was a lot of fun.  While not all of his family could make it, his son Mitchell and Mitchell's friend Austin really seemed to enjoy themselves.  They kept asking me to JUMP more!  :)

In an interesting twist, Austin's parents work at the property where our camp is held.  Austin had helped our group of kids when they went on a horse drawn wagon ride and we recognized each other!

Rodney and the kids got the "whole meal deal".  We got stuck, the weather was beautiful, the weather turned cool, the wind was calm, the wind was blowing hard, we had some minor mechanical problems, and we saw lots of interesting vehicles.  We saw the huge "dune buggy" with about 20 passengers and we saw the huge tow truck (below), pulling out a rental buggy.  Probably the most interesting rig we saw was a pick-up.  It was not even close to stock!  It looked like it was set up for the Baja 500.  Lots of power and amazing suspension!  Wow!

It was a great day!
